Penny Black - Illustrious

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing two cards using the Illustrious stamp (40-735).  This is a beautiful bouquet of large leaves and small blooms.  It took me a little while to figure out how I was going to watercolour.
This is an outline stamp.  I started by inking up all the different parts of the image with markers in a variety of colours.  By the time I finished inking the whole image, some parts were dry, but I stamped it onto my mixed media paper anyways.  Then I used a mini mister with water to give a very light, fine mist over top of my stamp.  Mini misters are great for that!  I stamped onto my mixed media paper again.

I then took a wet paint brush and moved some of the colour from the outline to fill in the blooms.  Once finished, the tiny flowers looked like blobs. :)  So I inked up my stamp again, this time one colour at a time and stamped over top to reestablish the outline.  It turned out great.  The only thing that didn't work well was moving colours on the leaves, there just wasn't enough ink from the outline.  So I watercoloured them separately.  Added a happy birthday sentiment (Special Sentiments 30-574), masking off the top line so I just had "happy birthday".

I'm entering the card above into Seize the Birthday #193 - Watercolouring.

Made a second card using the same beautiful stamp.  This time I stamped the image in black onto white card stock and added a little bit of colour with my zigs.
I wanted a different type of layout, so I cut the image to the size I wanted and then cut the panel into three equal parts to create a triptych.  What a different look with changing up the colours of the image and cutting the image into three.  The sentiment is from a new set called Grown with Love (30-713).

Thanks for stopping by!

Two pretty looks using this stamp Loll and I love them both. The split image works beautifully, a great design, and the brighter colours of the first look great too. x

I love both verssions Loll and thanks so much for all the how to's as I just got this stamp set in the mail last week and have been wondering how I would color it! Your 1st one turned out so bright and colorful, and I was picturing more Fall or even Christmas colors, so I was glad to see what it looked like with the brighter colors. And your 2nd card is so dramatic...love the more muted colors and how you divided it up into 3's! Two absolutely GORGEOUS cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)

Two very different cards using the same new PB stamp and different colors and CAS designs. I love your more vibrant colors on your watercolored bouquet. Your more muted colors on your 2nd card and your trimming and triptych cut design really turned out beautifully, Lolly. TFS both beauties. This is the set that really caught my eye from PB's new release. Now I am sold after seeing your 2 new cards. TFS your detailed description my friend. Stay safe and creative. Love and Hugs..Nancy

Oh I’ve had my eye on this stamp and what an outstanding job you did on both cards, Loll. I can see them as a bit of a challenge! Inking with markers is fun but can be a bit frustrating at times. I can’t seem to move the ink around as easily on mixed media paper. I do love your ideas to reactive the ink by stamping again so thanks for the inspiration!

I popped over to wish you a happy belated birthday for Saturday Loll. Hope you had a lovely day (and perhaps a great whole weekend as it is practically your DUTY to make your birthday last all weekend if it falls on a Saturday!)
Your samples with this new stamp are just lovely. I love the loose colouring on the first and am noting down that 'chop a stamped image in three' technique to give a stamp a completely different look. Your colour choices are always fabulous. Vicky x

I've had a lot of catching up to do with you being so productive the last couple of weeks, Lolly, and me being a load when it comes to commenting! Here you've created two really awesome Twofer designs using that same pretty spray image! I love them both and agree - what a difference it makes just changing the colors and the design!! Love, Dolly
