Happy with how this turned out. I dry embossed my main panel with a snowflake stencil, turned it over and scored lines every 1/2". I used the underside with the debossed snowflakes for my main panel. I did direct to paper with two distress ink pads (Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy), dragging the edge of the ink pads in the direction of the "grain". I love the warm colour of the "wood" panel. The ink also reveals the debossed snowflakes. Cut my panel to size, added a torn snow hill, deer (cut from my Silhouette Cameo several years ago, sponged with gathered twigs and antlers with walnut stain inks). To finish, stamped the sentiment in red before popping up the whole panel on my card front.

This is very pretty, I am going to have to check out the video as I am always looking for new techniques for my stampers! TFS!
ReplyDeleteI saw Colleen's post post earlier in the Month, looks like a fun technique and on my list to do :)
ReplyDeleteLove your card, the vintage distressed wood effect is beautiful :)
OMG!!!! Love your Carved Wood Technique snowflake panel and choice of Distress Ink colors. TFS your step and the video, which I will be checking out. Your CAS design with the stag and red stamped sentiment is so elegant too. TFS my friend. You have me inspired..again! Stay safe and Creative. Love and Hugs..Nancy
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat technique! Love the rustic look of the background. It's a perfect backdrop for the deer.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely card, Loll. It has a rugged, Tim Holtz type feel to it.
ReplyDeleteI love the texhnique you used and the dark deer looks great here.
I tried this very technique when I was in England a couple of years ago. I was at Sue Tossell's house and she taught it to me. We played with inks and embossing folders all day while the guys golfed and I learned lots of new things.
Thanks for taking part in the June Rudolph Days Challenge..
What a great technique Loll, must go and investigate further!
ReplyDeleteThe inked embossed panel really does have the look of wood paneling. :)
Love that you used the debossed snowflakes on this wonderful background Loll. A fabulous card
ReplyDeleteStay safe
Blessings

This is beautiful Loll, what a fabulous technique. I love the look from the debossed snowflakes xx
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card Lol, I'll have to go and take a look at this technique. Thank you for taking part in this months Rudolph Days Challenge.

Love, LOVE this card and technique Loll! Gina's version was very simple but you really stepped yours up and I'm totally loving it! Beautiful, beautiful card my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteCan't believe I have seen Gina K do this technique, your card is just fabulous, a great effect.
ReplyDeleteTake care

What a sweet deer that seems to be enjoying this background as much as I am! Wonderful Christmas card, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThat wooden board background gives an interesting look with the snow and the sweet deer Loll, I think I will have to give that a try. A beautiful card. x
ReplyDeleteThis is SO creative Loll and I love the finished product. I did try that technique one time. Major fail although the instructions I had were not clear. Love the wood grain you created and that deer is perfect for it. Fabulous card and it would be a great masculine Christmas card too!
ReplyDeleteWow, sooooo gorgeous! This is one of the few techniques I actually do occasionally. In fact, I was goofing around with it yesterday. I haven't tried inking the debossed side, though, and I love how it looks with the snowflakes. Gee, I have a deer die almost exactly like that, but smaller. I could totally CASE this awesome card! Also love your colors!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card with such a cool vintage look. Looks like a fun technique... similar to the faux wood plank technique. Will need to give this a try.
ReplyDeleteThis is very regal, Lolly! You did a great job with the carved wood technique! Love the shadow you gave that beautiful animal and the pop of red from the sediment! Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeleteHi Loll,
ReplyDeleteHappy Rudolf Days.
This technique looks amazing and I love the wood effect it gives.
What a super stencil to have as well I expect you will get good use out of that.
Love the silhouette of the stag and the lovely sentiment as well.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Such a fabulous technique and a great wood effect on your beautiful vintage and rustic Christmas card Loll x. No wonder you liked how it turned out....It is fabulous x.
ReplyDeleteWonderful technique, and fun card! While I've seen dragging the ink to make the woodgrain on vertical debossed stripes, I've never seen it cleverly used on an ef before
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job with the Carved Wood technique, Loll! The colors and the visual texture is rustic and vintage, and the card itself remains CAS. Thanks for sharing the video link. I'd love to try it.
ReplyDeleteHideko xx
This technique is new to me, but the effect it gives is stunning. I love the rustic look of this card.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous texture-y, rustic background, Loll ... the reindeer is so handsome before it ... and I love how the sentiment pops in red! Hugs, Anita :)
