Happy with how this turned out. I dry embossed my main panel with a snowflake stencil, turned it over and scored lines every 1/2". I used the underside with the debossed snowflakes for my main panel. I did direct to paper with two distress ink pads (Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy), dragging the edge of the ink pads in the direction of the "grain". I love the warm colour of the "wood" panel. The ink also reveals the debossed snowflakes. Cut my panel to size, added a torn snow hill, deer (cut from my Silhouette Cameo several years ago, sponged with gathered twigs and antlers with walnut stain inks). To finish, stamped the sentiment in red before popping up the whole panel on my card front.

What a neat technique! Love the rustic look of the background. It's a perfect backdrop for the deer.

I tried this very technique when I was in England a couple of years ago. I was at Sue Tossell's house and she taught it to me. We played with inks and embossing folders all day while the guys golfed and I learned lots of new things.

This is SO creative Loll and I love the finished product. I did try that technique one time. Major fail although the instructions I had were not clear. Love the wood grain you created and that deer is perfect for it. Fabulous card and it would be a great masculine Christmas card too!
Wow, sooooo gorgeous! This is one of the few techniques I actually do occasionally. In fact, I was goofing around with it yesterday. I haven't tried inking the debossed side, though, and I love how it looks with the snowflakes. Gee, I have a deer die almost exactly like that, but smaller. I could totally CASE this awesome card! Also love your colors!

Wonderful technique, and fun card! While I've seen dragging the ink to make the woodgrain on vertical debossed stripes, I've never seen it cleverly used on an ef before
