Hi everyone. Today is the start of the CAS Mix Up challenge for July and it's all about Stenciling! Nancy (scandinancy creates) is our host and she wants us to do some stencil tracing. Basically you do your stenciling, and then with the stencil back over the image, outline it using any pen colour you want ... or outline the stenciled design free-hand.
The above card starts with a bright yellow splashed background. Click HERE to see my video on splash watercolouring. The stencil image is from Silhouette America and it is cut with my Silhouette Cameo machine using a piece of acetate. I sponged through the stencil and once dry, went over the stencil again with a coating of matte gel (clear). It makes the colours more vibrant. Outlining was a bit of an issue with the gel, so I ended up outlining around the outside of the gel, rather than using the stencil as a guide. It worked well. A black sentiment banner with white heat embossing finishes the card.
My card has Splash Watercoloured Background, Stenciling, Sponging, Embossing Gel, Stencil Tracing, and Heat Embossing. Whew! That's a lot on a card that is still CAS. :)

We are so happy to have THREE Guest Designers this month. Please check out the challenge blog to see Greta (GG Creations), Sandie (London Days), and Kia (Kia's Art Bits) wonderful Stencil Tracing cards and the lovely cards from the rest of our Designers. I know you'll be inspired to give this a try!

Love that bright background, what a good idea to add clear glaze over the coloured stencilling, I be it adds something special to the finished card that doesn't show up in the picture xx
I love stencils and especially what you did with the one you created. Can not wait to play along.
Such a beautiful, vibrant card, Loll! I love the shiny orange flowers with that gorgeous bright yellow splashed background! The outlining makes the flowers stand out beautifully!
gorgeous Loll, I love the simplicity of the stencil and the outlining really makes it pop :)
Super card, Loll. Outlining the stencilling is a really effective technique. xx
Vibrant and eye catching card Loll....Such a contemporary looking card and the pen outlining looks fabulous x.
Gorgeous vibrant card Loll! The outline really makes the image pop! LOVE IT!
What a bright, cheery and happy card Loll! Love your stencil you made, I didn't know that there was a gel that made your ink look brighter. I don't know much as you already know. lol I think it is so cool and a great to outline the stenciled image! Gives a whole different look and I am really loving the "organic" look of hand outlining! A beautiful card that will bring cheer to the recipient! Hugs, Brenda
I love your beautiful flowers over the pretty yellow splash background Loll, and the gel really enhances the finished look, and also love the white on black sentiment strip along the bottom which finishes it perfectly. x
A beautiful sunshine glory. I bet those blooms are dimensional with the matte medium gel. Love the colour gradations, wow! ...all on one tiny frame!
Loll, you know I struggle with stencils - and really don't have very many that aren't some type of background ones. But I do remember one that I won as a prize somewhere - fingers crossed that I can make something as lovely as this is!

I love how the gel brought out the color so sharp. I love this idea to outline and your card is gorgeous.
Your outlining looks amazing on the poppies, Loll! I love how you added a few silhouettes and your vibrant background is stunning! Great idea to add the gel, too...I'll bet it looks amazing in person! Thanks for inspiring me to try this technique :) Barb xx
This is definitely what I'd call a happy card! This card would brighten anyone's day with that cheerful, sunny yellow. Fabulous job painting it too. It really is hard to believe that is a stencil. Spectacular job on this one.
Love all the different techniques you used Loll, the Stencil Tracing makes those Poppies pop, awesome design!
Wonderful technique, and your flower is so bold against your splashed background. Very pretty!
Loving this Loll - you really have laid on the techniques in this card and the result is absolutely stunning!
Stay safe

That's beautiful, Loll - so bright and summery to look at on these grey wet days we're having. I haven't made any splashed or smooshed backgrounds for a while so must do some as I really do love them.
so pretty....what a fun idea.
Hope you are well mf and had a great birthday. Things are still not back to normal here...our cases locally are going down and hope all the Toronto people don't come our way.
Glad to say we live in Canada and keep our borders closed.
Have a great wknd

Striking and bright CAS mixed media masterpiece... so many wonderful techniques and products. Great job free-hand tracing the images... I know I would have problems with that.
