Hi everyone. Back with two more cards using one of the new stamp sets from the Penny Black Refreshing release. Soulful Silhouettes (30-691) has a beautiful collection of images --- seven in the set. Today I've used just two ...
I had leftover distress inks on my palette after finishing another project. I sprayed lots of water and dropped my mixed media paper on top, moving it just slightly. I ended up with this gorgeous mix of several colours ... soft colours because of the water I added. I LOVE IT and thought it would pair perfectly with the silhouettes. I used my one piece of mm paper to create the backgrounds for both cards. The image and sentiment are heat embossed in white, adding to the softness of the card designs. The images were cut with a Simple Stackers((51-613) frame die. The main panel is popped up on the card base.
The designs are the same with smooshed background, white heat embossing, and framing. Just changed up the main image and sentiment. The first card has a sentiment from Gratitude (30-105). I've double embossed both the flower and sentiment so they would stand out more.

The second card uses a leafy image from the same stamp set and sentiment from Family Sentiments (30-555).
I double embossed the sentiment so it would stand out more.

ReplyDeleteTwo beauties for sure Loll! When I went on my PB shopping spree, this was another of the sets that I had to order...every image in this set is so pretty! I love how you did the silhouettes in white too as they look fabulous against your softly smooshed backgrounds on both cards. Lovely, lovely cards my friend!! :0)
ReplyDeleteOh how gorgeous those pastels are! Although I'm fond of your bright, cheerful colors these are so beautiful and soothing. I also love the white silhouettes against it. Your backgrounds and framing stole the show on these.
ReplyDeleteI love the soft pastel coloring you achieved on both cards, Lolly! Your first one is a gorgeous rainbow! And I love the double-embossing and appreciate the reminder since I never remember to do that! Now the question is, can I really justify yet another rectangle border set of dies??? Love, Dolly

ReplyDeleteYour cards are always such a visual delight, Loll. I really love this 2nd one - the soft background, those particular leaves and the great die cut for your focal panel - the bees knees!

Colourful pastel panels of pleasure. Brilliantly stamped and white heat embossed. Love this clean appeal.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the fabulous mix of soft distress ink colors, Loll! I thought the title "soulful" was referring to the background.
ReplyDeleteI was also wondering how you could always use your inked paper towel (for mop-up) and left-over palette to produce such a beautiful effect!
I can almost see smiles of the white heat-embossed silhouettes, happily swaying against the beautiful background.
Hideko xx
Oh my wow! These softly colorful backgrounds and the white embossing are incredibly gorgeous!
