Hi everyone. After seeing this AMAZING card on my friend Bonnie's blog, I had to give this technique a try. It's from The Daily Marker 30 Day Color Challenge that just started a few days ago. This is my first time checking out Kathy's amazing videos. She is AWESOME! Here's the link to the video used for today's card.
I used Alexandra Renke's cornflower dies. Coloured them with Distress and SU! markers, making sure to colour on top of my card front so any over colouring would end up on this awesome background. I also coloured my flowers, wet them and pressed into the card front a couple of times to get more interest. Once everything was dry, stamped a sentiment in matching green ink, popped up my panel onto my card front and glued (bottom of the stems) and pop dotted (flower heads) dimentionals to give some depth.

Easy and fun card to make! Thank you to Kathy for this great technique and to Bonnie for inspiring me to give it a try!

An absolutely amazing card, Loll! Can't believe this was your first visit to Kathy's channel - I dare you to spend less than 30 minutes there!
ReplyDeleteI think you and Bonnie have the most perfect dies for this process - it's on my list of things to try! Betting it will be on the CAS Mix Up roster one day? xx
=]
I even like yours better...maybe because they're flowers & grasses and easier to color! VERY nice effect & yet another way to stretch our dies too.... Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI did see that spectacular card on Bonnie's blog and yours is equally impressive. Gee, that background could stand alone with a sentiment over the top! I really must try this. The results are just amazing, I have to agree. That blurred image is such a perfect backdrop for your gorgeous die cut.
ReplyDeleteOh my Gosh...Stunning card and technique, Lolly. TFS all your details and the links to Bonnie's gorgeous card and Kathy's channel link. I will definitely be checking out this awesome die cut technique!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour colors, background and die cut flowers are simply beautiful and so artsy, my friend. Love and Hugs..Nancy

ReplyDeleteThis is a perfect die cut for this technique, my friend! Love the soft, watery cornflowers in the background that add wonderful interest to the beautifully colored die cut!
ReplyDeletelove everything about your card, Loll - colors, design etc. are wonderful - watched Kathy's video the other and must give it a go!
ReplyDeleteWow Loll, truly fabulous and love those lively colours and such a pretty cornflower die. The shadow images on the card behind the flowers are just perfect, stronger enough to see them clearly but not so strong that the overpower the images themselves. x
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely GORGEOUS Loll!! I definitely need to try this technique again! Lovely, lovely card!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteGreat technique, and I do love the background that it leaves behind! Very pretty, Loll

I mean WOW. I think I'll be trying this out on my watercolours. This is so much more effective than what I've been doing. Love the airy appeal to this background, perfect for this beautiful blossom duo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Great job on the print making technique. Loved this brilliant technique when I saw it on Kathy’s day 1 post... it even makes me look like I can watercolor! 😂 Will be doing this technique in an upcoming MB DT post.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is gorgeous, Loll! I LOVE your die-cut print background! I need to ask the same question as I did to Bonnie – how can you perfectly make the “randomly pressed” background so beautiful?
ReplyDeleteThe layout and the color combo of the card are superb too! Now I need to try this technique. :-)
Hideko xx
That is the coolest water color look. The cornflower die is so pretty and that soft color is awesome.

ReplyDeleteThis is when I would love to have a computer in my stamp room. Tried wifi, but it's so slow in there. Anyway, this technique produces gorgeous results, especially when in such expert hands as yours and Bonnie's. Fabulous, Loll!
ReplyDeleteI love how that background turned out, Loll. And the flower too.
