Hi everyone. Today I'm playing along with Twofer Challenge #29. I'm sure you can guess what the challenge prompt is ... :)
I have created two different designs for two different occasions using the same butterfly die-cut.
First up, a CAS birthday card ...
The background behind the butterfly is stamped in delicata silver ink. The butterfly's main body is cut from a piece of mixed media paper that had been smooshed with purple and red metallic liquids. The outline of the butterfly is layered over top and a simple sentiment is stamped to finish the card. This a one layer card which I don't make often.
The second card is a CAS mixed media encouragement card ...
The background is from my stash of paper towel transfers with pink and orange inks. I stenciled over top with a honeycomb stencil in both bright pink and gold inks. You can't really see the original background any more unless close up. This time I only used the outline of the butterfly. Die-cutting it from black really makes it pop off the background. I complimented it with a black sentiment banner with white embossing.
I hope you'll come join in the Twofer Challenge. It only runs for two weeks, so have your two cards posted before end of day July 24th! Hope to see you in the gallery!

Wow, your twofers are beautiful Loll! I really love the one layer card, the silver splats behind the butterfly look so pretty. The butterfly in the purples and red inks is just stunning. A beautiful CAS birthday card! I mustn't get my towels inky enough because I don't get the vibrant ink transfer that you get. But then I don't get inky as often as you do. sigh I love how your background came out on your twofer, the black outline of the butterfly just pops right off the background! The sentiment strip in black accents perfectly too. Just beautiful! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteThese are both really pretty cards, Loll. I'll admit that I'm absolutely in love with your birthday card. That butterfly looks so rich and vibrant all dressed in those purples, and the bit of silver behind him really helps to pop him off your card front. So cool. That background is just right for your black butterfly on your encouragement card, too. I love your choice of colors for the stenciled panel. This whole design is lovely and happy. Great cards!! Sending hugs, Bev
ReplyDeleteI do love both versions of your flutters. The first so very clean and the second so very colourful. Two very different designs and both so equally beautiful.

ReplyDeleteLove the butterflies! You created some beauties and the backgrounds are quite fun too
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are absolutely GORGEOUS Loll!! LOVE the simplicity of your 1st card and the deep purple of the butterfly just POPS off that silver bit of grunge...soooo pretty!! And your 2nd card is just magical!! I love that colorful paper towel and stenciled background and once again your butterfly just pops off the card! Lovely, lovely cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteStunning pair of butterfly cards, Loll - love them both!! On card one you had me at purple - so pretty! And I adore the honeycomb pattern on card two!!
ReplyDeleteOh Loll! What unusual cards! I don't know which one I like more. The first is a perfect CAS and its biggest asset. The second card has a great background and amazing colors, which is its biggest advantage :-) I can't point out a more beautiful card because both are wonderful

Both are beautiful, Loll! I love the simplicity of the first one with the bit of Gorgeous Grunge stamping behind the butterfly (it's beautiful in the smooshed purple). And the second one is so much what I think of as a "Loll card" - your wonderful colours and the great contrast of the black!
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous twofers, Loll! All the beautiful white space and the butterfly outline make the colors really pop and the card is CAS perfection.
ReplyDeleteThe paper towel ink transferred and stenciled background is so pretty and interesting. The black is a wonderful accent.
