Santa Making a Delivery

Hi everyone.  Today I've had fun with another of my new Stamping Bella stamps.  This is called "Sneaky Yeti" because originally where was a Yeti peeking out from behind the cottage.  I masked him out.  I wanted to focus more on Santa, even though it's a small part of the image. :)

I'm playing along with Christmas Craft Creations this month where they want to see Christmas Characters.
I started by stamped my image onto mixed media paper in permanent black ink.  Heat set to make sure the ink was dry before watercolouring with distress inks.  My main colours are Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles, and Mowed Lawn.  Once I had finished watercolouring with those colours, I used the leftover ink to create a smooshed background for my card.  An easy way to tie the colours all together.

I finished watercolouring and then fussy-cut the image.  I stamped the sentiment in red before assembling the card.  The main panel is popped up for dimension, as well as the fussy-cut image.  To finish I splattered with diluted white gouache paint, and even though I masked off my sentiment, it managed to get underneath and blur the lettering a bit.  Grrr!  I'm just going with it! :)

I've added a few finished touches such as gray shadows on all the snow area, followed by clear wink of stella --- love the shimmer of the snow!  Also added crystal drops to the Christmas lights and the windows to make them shine.

Close-up ...
Since this is a new-to-me stamp, I'm entering this card into the NBUS #17 Challenge gallery.

This was so much fun to make!

This little snowy cottage is beautiful Loll and love the Santa with his very large sack, and the light in the windows with the glossy accents over the top is a great idea and love the glittery snow and lovely sentiment to finish. x

Love how you used the same colors for your watercolored background as you used to color your stamped and heat embossed Winter scene. I noticed the Santa climbing down the chimney right away. A really fun Christmas card that will be perfect for Christmas lover of any age:-)TFS Lolly.

So fun seeing the new photos of Jessie too. Looks like she wore herself out playing with her favorite toys..sticks and socks:-) She looks so soft and pretty!! Love and Hugs to all the family. Nancy

Oh Loll, I'm so happy to see Jessie. Her coat is beautiful and she looks so protective of her stick! Plum tuckered out and no wonder, playing is hard work. That cottage with it's Christmas lights is so pretty and Santa coming down the chimney is perfect.

I love when you color your Bella stamps! I think I like this one better without the Yeti. Brilliant idea! Fabulous coloring and love the background. I don't think there's anything wrong with the sentiment. It looks completely natural, like it had been snowed upon. You even glossed the windows! You know how I love to see Jessie pictures! She's such a darling, adorable little girl!

Wow, I am so loving this card Loll! It is fun but yet classy at the same time. How clever to mask out the Yeti and make this a traditional Christmas card. Love how you have watercolored it too and love that you used the left over ink to make a smooshed background. The attention to the little details is perfect. Loving how that snow glistens and the lights/windows shine! You sentiment in red is perfect and pops to well. I didn't even notice there was a little blurring of the letters until you mention it! Yes, go with it because it is such a fabulous card, how can you not?! I am so in love with this card, it looks like the perfect Christmas Eve! Hugs, Brenda

I wonder how this Santa wants to pull that thick sack up the chimney? He'll have to work a lot with this :-) What a fun Christmas scene, Loll. The cut houses glued on the spacer foam add a beautifully extra dimension to the card.
