Hi everyone. I haven't bought many stamp sets from Stampin' Up! for a long time, but when I saw the latest catalogue ... WOW! Lots of watercoloured-looking stamp sets. A lot of the work is already done ... just add ink! :)
Today is an amazing set called Beautiful Friendship. All I did was ink up the stamp with three shades of blue (one at a time, spritzing, stamping and blotting with paper towel after each addition), working lightest to darkest inks. This was my first time trying this stamp and this CAS design was done in about 10 minutes. You gotta love that!
Close-up ...
The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I first stamped it in green, but it looked too washed out. Overstamped in black, which is a LOT of contrast. Might have been better with a soft gray or dark blue. :) Oh well, next time. :)
Since this is new to me, I'm adding it to the NBUS #18 gallery ...

Paper: Mixed Media (Strathmore 140 lb.)

ReplyDeleteI have no clue what SU! offers anymore, but wow, this is one cool stamp to give such a gorgeous watercolour effect. Love the colours you’ve used. It may have taken you 10 mins., but knowing me, It would take me 3x as long. 😂 Fabulous card.
ReplyDeleteLoll, this is a masterpiece - just 10 minutes??!! I can't wait to see what other goodies you bought!
ReplyDelete[pssst grey always works great!] xx

ReplyDeleteWow. I recently ordered from SU for the first time in years, but I didn't know about these stamps then. Everyone could use something that makes such a gorgeous card with so little trouble. Thanks for sharing your find, Loll!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Loll! Isn't hindsight 20/20? But then again, it's still beautiful with LOTS of contrast...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Loll, love all the soft blues making up your hydrangea and awesome to make such a QCAS card :)

ReplyDeleteStay safe

So much to love about this card, and I may have to have another look at SU's products! LOVE the layered blues. I also think that the black sentiment is an "eye-puller-inner" and while at first you see the sentiment, the sentiment leads the eye right to those amazing flowers. Stunner! xo Bev
ReplyDeleteWow - just love the delicate flowers and the watercolored depth you achieved, Loll - gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThe soft look you got with water color is gorgeous. They look just picked and so fresh. The different shades of blue are beautiful, Loll.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, I love the softness. Yes, it is a lot of contrast but I love it xx
ReplyDeleteWow what an amazing water colour effect Loll and what great stamps. I also like the dark black from the sentiment x. Such a beautiful card x.
ReplyDeleteYour card is so pretty, Loll. Lovely design. xx
ReplyDeleteI love the watercoloured look to the flowers, such a pretty stamp xx
ReplyDeleteSoft and so pretty, Loll ... the depth you created with the different blues is fabulous ... love the contrast of the black sentiment with the dreaminess of the blooms! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous hydrangea, Loll! Love the beautiful watercolor created by the stamp and the way you inked the stamp.
ReplyDeleteI should look at the latest SU catalog again!
Hideko xx
Wow Loll, this card is stunning! I saw it in the catalog, but it didn't catch my eye, except that it was a beautiful stamp set. You sure made it look stunning! I think SU should hire you do showcase their stamps! Seriously! I love all the shades of blue you got in your card. Was just showing this to a friend of mine while we had a play day yesterday. I happen to love the black sentiment as it just makes everything pop. A little black also always brings elegance I think, whether in home decorating or on a card. Leaned that from a lady, Miss Edna. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stamp as you wrote, watercolor effect made easy. I love delicate colors, because it makes the sentiment contrast beautifully. Maybe a gray color would be calmer, but this contrast looks really good
