I started by stamping my flower (Radiant - Penny Black) in Versamark ink and heat embossing with Liquid Platinum embossing powder.
The center of the flower is watercoloured with Yellowish Black and leaf with Greenish Black. Then watercoloured the flower petals in Purplish Black. I thought it looked a bit dull, so added a layer of Reddish Black ink on top of the petals. Much happier with the colour. I used the same two colours of the petals (Purplish Black and Reddish Black) to smoosh my background.
I love the smoky look of these colours. I wanted to keep a monochromatic look so tested out my gray distress inks to find the colour that worked best. Pumice Stone was very close to Liquid Platinum embossing powder, so used it to stamp the background (Script - Penny Black) on my smooshed card stock. Used the matching flower die to cut out my flower (Radiant cut out - Penny Black) and popped it up on top, adding foam for dimension.

ReplyDeleteWow Loll, this is a stunning card! I am so intrigued with those paints you used. They look like they would be really fun to play with and you have showcased them wonderfully! I love the look of these paints on your flower. It is so cool the way they are black, but colored. Not sure how that works, but it is really cool. You placed your beautiful flower on a great background, there isn't anything that I don't love about this card! Hugs, Brenda

I love the script background and the wonderful smooshing you have done with the paint used on the flower. The platinum EP works brilliantly too. x

ReplyDeleteLOve the script behind this gorgeous bloom, Loll! It's so dramatic, and nearly spooky, in these colors, right? Not that that is a bad thing at this time of year!

This is gorgeous and completely different from your other cards, Loll! The blackish purple looks beautiful with Liquid Platinum. The smooshed visual texture and your wonderful ink color choice for the script stamp make the background as fabulous as the focal flower!

Going through some older email and came across this beauty. I know I looked at it in awe but didn't get back to commenting. You have knocked my socks off here Loll. This would have to be my all time favourite of yours and yes there are many. The colours and that embossing powder really make a statement here. I so love this one!
