So happy to be back with a new CAS Mix Up Challenge for January - Splatters, hosted by our very talented Designer, Hilary!
Splatters have become a big part of my work. I use them mostly on flower and Christmas cards, but they look so amazing on any card. And they also can do double duty to cover up any little mistakes. Gotta love that! :)
The card above is from one of the Zoom sessions I had late last year with my crafty friends. We used versamark on a solid image and then lightly pounced on powdered inks (Lindy's magicals used above). A light spritz of water and then stamped onto mixed media paper.
Close-up ...
You can really see the shine from the magicals in the close-up. So pretty! We are thrilled to have Elaine (Craft-E-Place) are our Guest Designer this month. Welcome Elaine!
Please check out the challenge blog to see the cards made by Elaine and the rest of the CAS Mix Up Designers. I know you'll be inspired to play along.

CAS Mix Up January Challenge - Splatters
Wonderful splatters Loll and that technique with versamark looks intriguing. The result is fabulous xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as ever Lolly! Happy New Year. xx
ReplyDeleteYes, they are good for covering up or minimizing those little "oops" we all have sometimes. Done that! I love the look of this technique with the Magicals. I used to do this with Versamark and chalks, but it had to be sprayed with sealer. Still, I might try it again sometime. But, I digress... Beautiful simplicity and the splatters look like they just sort of happened randomly during painting... which, by the way, the tulips absolutely look hand painted. I'm so happy to be starting the new year on the CAS Mix Up team, Loll. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet these florals glow in real life...you get a hint of the sheen in your photos. Such a happy card for this time of year. Makes me wish my bulbs were sprouting in the garden.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job of this difficult technique! I've tried and basically get a blob. You actually got some definition. And splatter- I love it but it's one of those things that I never get right. Too soupy and it's running all over. Too think and I get those lines. This however is just perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove your splatters along with your cool powdered Magicals technique, Lolly. I still have not tried that technique. You have me inspired...again, my friend. Love and Hugs...so happy to start the New Year with our awesome CAS Mix Up Challenge:-)

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely BEAUTIFUL card Loll, and the splatters really do add a wonderful touch! And anything using Lindy's Magicals you just know is going to be GORGEOUS!! Your tulips kinda make me wish Spring were a little closer though...just had a snow/ice storm yesterday, so there is definitely no color in my neck of the woods! Good thing for my computer!! Hope you had a great and relaxing holiday! Hugs. :0)

ReplyDeleteOnly in the approximation you can see all the richness of colors and these nuances, how the colors mix. Oh, this card is so special, one of a kind, unrepeatable. I love splashing too. In your performance, it's always a great finish to the card. It is different with me :-)
