Penny Black - Garden Variety

Hi everyone.  Today I have two cards using the beautiful Garden Variety Cling stamp (40-744).  This is so pretty and I've had fun playing with different mediums with this stamp.

The card above is done with Distress Markers direct to stamp.  I did spritz with a tiny bit of water, but mostly it's just ink.  I love the Spring colours of these flowers.  I wanted this to be a bright and happy card so I blended Squeezed Lemonade distress ink in the background, darker around the center of the card, lighter on the outside edges.  I die-cut the centre with one of the frames from Sewing Stackers (51-651) from the new release.

I stamped the sentiment, Faith.Hope.Love (30-800) in black ink and heat embossed in clear so it stands out.  The last step was to pop the centre panel up on foam to add dimension.

For my second card I used Magicals (Lindy's) powdered shimmer inks ...
I pressed Versamark ink onto my stamp (in the Misti) and used a dry brush to add two colours of Magicals (Drop Dead Gorgeous Green, Ramblin' Rose Pink).  I spritzed with water and stamped onto mixed media paper.  I repeated until I was happy with the colour.  I then used leftover ink to splatter the card in both colours.

To finish, I split the panel and added the sentiment, Faith.Hope.Love in black ink onto my card front.  I popped up the two panels with the flowers to add dimension.

You can see some of the shimmer from these powdered inks on the close up ... so pretty!

You nailed bright and happy with that gorgeous yellow card, Loll. The coloring is so lovely and I like that frame. Adding Lindy's to a versamarked stamp is new to me and turned out so pretty. I like the popped up divided look.

What a happy and colourful first card, with a fabulous sentiment and the prettiest effect with the distress markers x. A dreamy looking second card with an eye catching design and I have yet to try this technique with the magicals so thank you Loll for the inspiration x. Such happy and cheery cards x.

This is a really amazing effect in the first tab! I love the way the flowers pass through the frame as if they haven't noticed it. WOW !! And the second card was made with the same stamp, but so different. I'm sure it shines wonderfully from Lindy's magic powders. Only when I compared both cards did I realize that it was the same stamp :-)
hugs,

Both cards are such happy cards, Loll. That first one is so bright with your color choices and love that stamp. I’ll try and refrain from buying for the moment. You achieve such great results with the Lindy powdered ink too. Two beautiful cards to brighten brighten someone’s day.

Wow, Lolly! The first card is so bright and uplifting! What a perfect sentiment to go with it! Changing the background color makes this look like a very different stamp and a great way to get more mileage out of it! Again a perfect sentiment and I love how it's tucked into the split! I've been working a lot lately. We've finally received a steady flow of vaccines. Doing the +65. Tired but relieved that we're slowly seeing the light. Can't wait to get us ALL inoculated. All is well. Do take care! Warm hugs xxx
