Hi everyone. Today is the start of a new CAS Christmas challenge. This challenge is being hosted by Linda (Lin's Craft Corner).
I do love to watercolour poinsettia images. I have used the one above so many times, but never get tired of it. :) Unfortunately, it is retired and no longer available.
This was a save image. I first watercoloured the poinsettias in pinks and used light red for the berries. They did not look good together! :( Left it for a couple of days and then watercoloured over top with Zigs. Love the colour of the poinsettias with the mix of Wine Red Zig and the pink underneath. :) Added a black stamped sentiment from Merry Up! 30-622 (Penny Black). Die-cut my poinsettias, splattered with diluted white acrylic paint, and popped them up on the card base.
Close-up ...
We are so happy to have Sandra (Sandma's Handmade Cards) as our Guest Designer this month. I hope you'll check out the challenge blog and see the poinsettia cards from are talented Designers and wonderful Guest Designer, Sandra. Come join us!
Sending this over to the Merry Little Christmas Challenge #36 - Anything Christmas Goes.

CAS Christmas July Challenge - Poinsettia
Funny how a color just won't look good to the eye sometimes - so glad you were able to come back to it and layer something else on - the colors are beautiful on this Loll and I love the white splatter (always scary to do!) xx
ReplyDeleteThis color combination looks really stunning, I never would have suspected they didn't look good before. I'm glad you came back to this card after a few days, because it was worth waiting for the change. White splashes are wonderful, always in perfect intensity :-)

Beautiful card. Glad you were able to save your lovely poinsettias. I too have this set and love it. It looks great with the white splatters. TFS
ReplyDeleteGorgeous poinsettias, Lolly! I love the depth of color on the flowers and the berries! The white splatters look like snow falling on them! Lovely card, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThe very first thing I thought was how much I love the color of the poinsettias, so I'd say it was a good fix. Gorgeous against the white. Many times the oldies are the besties!
ReplyDeleteThese poinsettias and berries are terrific and the pink flowers with the wine Zig colour over the top looks so bright and beautiful and the darker red of the berries is really striking Loll. A gorgeous card. x
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely, Loll! The deep pink of the poinsettias pops against the white background so beautifully. I would have never guessed that this was a save image. Love the depth of the color. Falling snow is a pretty finishing touch!
