But then I started trying all different types of techniques and I left brayering behind for several years. I have seen some cards using this technique lately, so thought I'd see if I could remember how to do it. :) Here is my first attempt. Overall I'm happy with the card, but I definitely need more practise brayering. :)
I used glossy paper so that the brayer glides on the paper. I started by sponging the center first with Mustard Seed ink and then on top of that with Abandoned Coral ink. Next I inked up my brayer with Chipped Sapphire, which is a deep blue. This looks like a night sky to me. I did add some Wilted Violet at the top but it doesn't really show.
I stamped my silhouette mountains and bullrushes (Mountain Madness 40-751) in black ink to finish. It takes a while for the ink to dry on the glossy paper so I set it aside. Once dry, I stamped my sentiment (Good Wishes 30-541) in black ink onto my card front before adding the popped up, inked panel.

I love the colors of the inks you chose. At first I thought the blue was Prize Ribbon but love the blue you chose.
Cute picture of the doggies.
The brayering looks great to me and what a fabulous atmospheric card Loll x. Thanks for sharing the adorable photo of Jessie and Attalie x.
This is fabulous, you have achieved a real depth with your brayer blending. I is wonderful xx
Gorgeous brayered sky for your beautiful silhouette mountain and reeds images, Lolly. I loved the Mustard Seed and Abandoned Coral brayered center with the Chipped Sapphire for the sky and water. You have not lost your touch with a brayer, my friend. TFS Hugs...Nancy
P.S. Jessie's new friend is so pretty too. Two beautiful dogs:-) Hugs..
I also used to love Michelle's brayered scenes Loll but being a lazy crafter found I could achieve something vaguely similar with sponging that took a fraction of the time and no clean up either! On the other hand... these gorgeous cards show how smooth the ink transition can be and they look wonderful. Your colours are superb! Vicky x
WOW! Sure doesn’t look like you need practice to me! Love this and love your gradient, Michelle was incredible and I once took a class with her so thanks for the reminder to drag out my brayer again and try this! Gorgeous!
Wow! This is gorgeous, Lolly! Your different shades of color is amazing and I'm still scratching my head about the brayering! It certainly is an awesome technique! Can't wait to try it!
A lovely card. The background is very pretty. I think your brayering is grand. [Bunny]
both cards look great Loll, I need to pull out my brayer, it's been a long time.
Love the photo of Attalie and Jessie, Attalie looks so sweet and Jessie's found a new pal ♥
What an absolutely gorgeous, serene scene -- your brayering looks pretty fantastic to me!
Great job on the brayering! I like using glossy cs for it too. You created a lovely scene. Beautiful photo of Jessie and her new friend.
I used to follow Michelle too, ages ago. Unfortunately my brayer does not roll smoothly and I gave up - maybe I should invest in a better one...
Your card is stunning - love the silhouettes in front of the evening sky effect
Stay safe
Blessings
Maxine
Well done with the brayering, you've created such a lovely scene.
Cute photo of Jessie and her new friend xx
Oh my gosh the colors on this scene are amazing and I love your pups first meeting image. Just so beautiful.
Beautiful card with gorgeous vibrant background!
I'm thinking you should be the one doing the brayer technique! This is just gorgeous. The reflection is stunning and those colors look terrific. What a great card. How sweet these dogs look and it's wonderful that Jessie gets along with all her dog friends.
What a beautiful effect! You haven't lost your touch. Thanks for the step by step. I half-heartedly tried this back in the day without much luck, but I sure did manage to waste a lot of ink! Ideal stamps for this calm, yet magnificent scene. Jessie and Attalie are quite a pair! Look at those sweet faces. They're adorable and it warms my heart to see them. Thanks, Loll!
What a beautiful card Loll, I love the scene you have created. I have been seeing ink brayering making a come back as well. What's old is new again! Hugs, Brenda
Wow! What an amazing picture, Loll. So realistic with your color choice and color intensity. Great ink and brayer work!

Looks like the technique came back to you perfectly Loll...this card is GORGEOUS!! Hugs. :0)
Wow those colours are gorgeous Loll, and the bullrushes and distant hills really make a fabulous scene. I think you brayered beautifuly and a great idea to sponge on the yellow above the horizon before adding the deep blue top and bottom..so full of atmosphere. x
Peaceful and beautiful... And a lovely photo of those fur babies
Love this, Loll! Those colors are stunning against the black.
Oh my gosh, Loll...this is GORGEOUS! Great idea to create your background with a brayer...your transition from one color to another is so smooth and your color palette is so striking...everything is just perfect with the bullrushes!
Cute pic of Jessie :) It's so nice that she's made another good friend, too :) xx
