Hi everyone. Yesterday we had our regular monthly Zoom call. This month Bonnie shared a new-to-us technique following one of Jennifer McGuire's videos.
Bonnie graciously mailed each of us a package of different coloured foil card stock to use. Love happy mail! :) Thanks Bonnie! Each of us made several cards from the foil card stock ahead of time and then shared our finished cards on our Zoom call.
Technique is simple. Dry emboss foil card stock and embossing folders (regular or 3D EFs both work well). As an added element, use a sanding block to highlight the raised design. It removes the colour to reveal silver underneath. Then make your card.
I tried several of the colours so there are lots of photos below. I cut the pieces to make two cards from each of an A2 Foil card front (5 1/2 x 4 1/4).
My favourite is the card at the top of this post. I LOVE the rose coloured foil with black and white accents.
Sending the first card to NBUS Challenge #29. Actually every one of these cards uses a new product. :) Yay!
All products I used are listed at the bottom of this post.

Love the blue foil paired with white die-cuts ...

The bright green makes beautiful Christmas cards. Three more for my stash! :)

Last, but not least, gold foil card stock with a beautiful flower embossing folder. No sanding on the butterfly card (gorgeous butterfly die-cut gifted to me by Bonnie)
I hope you like this technique and will give it a try.

Oh my, these are sooo beautiful. Can you tell me please what foil papers used for this? I would like to give it a go!
ReplyDeleteThank you Loll
WOW X's Nine totally Gorgeous, Stunning Beautiful Cards, Lolly!!!! I love the colors and sanding of your beautiful 3D backgrounds and your CAS Card designs:-)
ReplyDeleteI was so inspired by Bonnie's recent 3D Foil cards that I ordered a Tim Holtz 3D "Botanical" EB Folder and just received it yesterday...how about that for good timing?!? I only have a few 3D folders. I can see how it would be impossible to make only 1 card. I need to send my sweet friend Daisy a new card. I am so sad...her Assisted Living home had to close to visitors because of a positive Covid by one of the employees. TFS your beauties, my dear friend.
Sure hope Jessie is feeling better now that she is a few days post surgery. It might be a few days, but I will be playing with this gorgeous technique soon. TFS and totally inspiring me, Lolly. Love and Hugs..Nancy
Gosh, just looked at your cards and supply lists again and noticed the new 3D folder I just received was the same folder you used on your Card #8...how about that:-) BTW, I could NOT possibly chose a favorite...All your CAS designs are stunning and so inspiring, my friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteAll Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWOW! You really embraced this technique, my friend! I especially love that first card, and the awesome reindeer on card 5, but all of them are fantastic! I see an embossing folder that I need to add to my stash!
ReplyDeleteWow Loll, nine fabulous cards!! I love all the different embossed foil backgrounds and lots of wonderful different die cut embellishments over the top. A great technique and one I will hav to try...especially for Christmas cards, and there are some beautiful Christmas 3D folders about this year. x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Loll, still making my cards after my oopsy with the weeks. I love all your examples especially the first one ♥
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning cards, Loll, each one of them is amazing! I see some foil embossing in the near future for me!! Thanks for all the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThese look wonderful Loll, I can't wait to play after my mix up with zoom meetings ♥
ReplyDeleteFabulous to see all your results together! I agree that the first card is the best, but I also really love the last two - that gold foil and embossing folder are a terrific combinations. It was a fun technique to try.
ReplyDeleteThat was a fun technique which is very addicting as Bonnie says. (Wait til she hears how many e/fs I bought today!) Thank you so much for sharing all your unique and beautiful card designs with everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteThe embossed foil looks amazing Loll and your designs are fabulous, I love the deer Wow! Cathy x
ReplyDeleteAmazing work Loll. Love this technique and must give it a whirl on foil card - Loving that you got so many cards out of the embossed sheets by using parts rather than whole sheets
ReplyDeleteStay safe

Such a fabulous array of cards Loll. I tried the technique myself but not done it proud, you've certainly revived my interest and I may have another go!
ReplyDeleteWOW! These are gorgeous and something I have to try! That first rose color is incredible and one color of foil I hadn’t seen before. Love that technique and the effects are fabulous! Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteEvery single card is a WOW card Loll!! I can't even pick a favorite!! And isn't this an addictive technique?! I couldn't stop when I played, and like you had many, many cards to share! So glad to hear you had fun doing this technique!! Have a great weekend my friend!! Hugs. :0) (How is Jessie doing? Hope she heals quickly!!)
ReplyDeleteI, too, love your first card so much. I'm so glad you posted them because your designs are really beautiful. That deer didn't show up like that on zoom and it is awesome. Great job with this technique.
ReplyDeleteThat is such good technique, they all look amazing. It is particularly good for Christmas cards. i think I agree with yo on your favourite, but they are all just glorious xx
ReplyDeleteWell, that does it! After seeing Bonnie's and now your cards, I'm on the hunt for more 3D embossing folders. These are all jaw-dropping, Loll!
ReplyDeleteEvery one of these cards are gorgeous! And, you made it sound so easy! TFS

All of your cards are stunning Loll! I loved Bonnie's cards when I saw hers on her blog. I've never thought to emboss and sand foiled cardstock before. It sure is beautiful though and I must do this sometime when I get some more foil cardstock. Now question, is foiled cardstock the same as mirror cardstock?? Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteHi Brenda. Yes, mirror card is the same as foil card stock. Not all foil card stocks work with sanding. Bonnie did some testing and said that all Tim Holtz's foil card stock works well. Some of the Tonic also. Loll xx
ReplyDeleteHOW did you get the mosaic look on this deer? Wonderful cards...each one is fabulous and fascinating!☺
ReplyDeleteWOW! All of these are simply stunning. Such gorgeous embossing folders and I love the effect from the foiled cardstock ..... I'll be giving that one a try! xx
ReplyDeleteI just finished oohin and aahing over Bonnie's embossed foil creations and find another wealth of inspiration here. These are so beautiful, Loll, The texture on the sanded holly leaf has me searching for Christmas embossing folders!
ReplyDeleteWOW Loll you are spoiling me....What amazing results and the most eye catching cards with the fabulous technique. Even the one without the sanding x.
ReplyDeleteImagine opening up one of these beauties....You would be blown away. Thanks for sharing Loll x.
All the cards are super stunning!
ReplyDeleteCreatieve groetjes, Anja
OMG! These cards are amazing, Loll! The embossed foil card panels are GORGEOUS, but I'm loving your wonderful and creative designs!! I must case them!
ReplyDeleteHideko xx
Oh wow! They are all stunners! The gold is so very elegant
ReplyDeleteI did it, Lolly..I now have 8, 3D backgrounds made for my 3D sanded foil stash...because of you and Bonnie:-) I look forward to making them into cards, but the garden is calling me everyday now! I do have an idea for a Christmas card that I hope will work for a CCC Decorations card:-) It will have to happen quick..Tomorrow is the 24th..lol! Love and Hugs..Nancy
ReplyDeleteOh WOW!!!! So many incredible cards! All so stunning!
