Hi everyone. Today I'm sharing a card from the new Penny Black Christmas release, Making Spirits Bright. This card uses the Holly Days (30-869) set.
Ink: Distress Inks: Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Fired Brick (Tim Holtz); Versamark
Accessories: paint brush, stylus
Challenges:
I stamped the wreath two times onto mixed media paper. First layer was inked with Shabby Shutters distress ink to create a soft background wreath. I used a paint brush and water to soften the holly and leaves.
I rotated the wreath about 1/4 way and re-inked it with Peeled Paint distress Ink. I stamped over top of the first wreath a few times until the image was fairly strong. I used my paint brush again to soften the leaves, adding more Peeled Paint to make them darker. I used Rustic Wilderness distress ink to paint over the holly leaves on the top wreath.
I used red acrylic paint from Decoart (Red Bird) to create the berries, using my stylus tip to add the dots of red. The sentiment from Penny Black (Believe 30-310) was stamped several times in Fired Brick distress ink.
The finishing touch was to add a Cherry Cobbler (SU!) card stock frame. I used a small berry branch from the same stamp as the wreath (Holly Days 30-869) to stamp the frame in Versamark, giving it a subtle tone-on-tone design.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
PBSC October Challenge - Anything Goes with Optional: Colour Inspiration (use at least two of the colours). I used red and green.
Also adding this card to the NBUS Challenge #31.

Gorgeous wreath - fabulous cobbler color card!

This card has a great contrast. I love the burgundy color frame. I also love sentiment, it perfectly complements the card.

Love, love, love this wreath, Lolly! The colors are so pretty and that background makes a gorgeous frame!
Love the deep red of the card base! Beautiful wreath - a great idea to rotate the stamp and restamp in a different shade of green.
Loll, love your idea of using red paint and a stylus for the berries. This definitely will give good color as well as dimension. I feel as none of the coloring medias I use have a true red--zigs, distress inks, and watercolors. Red paint-great idea. Thank you for sharing.
The wreath is gorgeous Loll and I love the three colours you used for the leaves and berries and the tone on tone stamping looks great on the deep red background card, and a beautiful red flourishy sentiment too. x
stamped wreaths are always a favourite of mine :) Love how you filled the spaces by rotating the wreath and the acrylic paint berries look awesome. I've seen the technique before so now want to give it a go ♥
Love the colors, LOll and the font on that sentiment is fabulous. This is a beautiful card!
What a wonderful way to 'bulk up' a simple wreath stamp without it looking cluttered Loll - love the contrast of the greens with the deep reds
Stay safe
Blessings
Maxine
How very lovely... The wreath is beautiful with the perfect sentiment and I really like how you stamped the card base. Have a beautiful weekend Loll
What a fabulous effect and so very pretty Loll. What a beautiful creative wreath and love the Cherry coloured card stock and the wonderful sentiment x.
This is absolutely gorgeous, Loll! I adore that deep red in the berries and the frame. It really sets off the wreath. Thank you so much for sharing! Wow!
The wreath is beautiful, Loll, and what a great idea to use your stylus for the berries. I love the subtle stamping in the frame. It really steps up the wow factor.
Penny Black never disappoints and this wreath is gorgeous. The shading is beautiful and those red berries are so teeny. I love that cheerful sentiment.
Your wreath is so beautiful, Loll, and artfully crafted with the applications of inks and paint. I'm very taken with your frame, too. Subtle and lovely!
So stylish, love how you have added interest to the frame xx
Gorgeous card, Loll. I love the rich colour of frame, it really draws your eye to the beautiful wreath. xx
Two-toned greens and rich red -- fabulous card for your PB wreath.
Fabulous Christmas wreath card, Loll! The layered stamping with a watercolor-look is just beautiful, and using a stylus tip to add berries is so clever. The tone-on-tone berry branches on the card base nicely echo the wreath!
Hideko xx
I love the way you turned and stamped this pretty wreath to give it more body, Lolly, and how you soften the two shades of green. It's beautiful and you made it stand out even more by using the colored card base! Love the sediment, too. Thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Dolly
gorgeous holiday card, Loll. Love the rich reds in the background, which really set off your stunning focal.
