I rarely get freebies in the mail, but with my last on-line order I received this background. Actually it was advertising the pad of paper for sale. All the designs were on the back, but just one on the front, so I used it today. :) I love the vintage look of this paper. I stayed with the pink and brown to add my elements to the card..
I stamped a bouquet of peonies (Perfect Peonies - Clearly Besotted). I love this stamp and have used it A LOT. :) Looks awesome in pink and brown. I used Ground Espresso, Kitsch Flamingo, and Picked Raspberry distress inks, mixing the pink and brown to get the colours for my blooms. Stamped the peonies in dark brown ink and clear heat embossed. Then watercoloured the image. I die-cut the bouquet with matching die, but thought the white edging left from the die looked too stark so just added a light coating of pink. The background is die-cut with a postage stamp die (Postage Stamp - Spellbinders retired). I did a little stenciling in the top left and bottom right corners with Ground Espresso ink and Pebbles Stencil (Lavinia). I stamped the sentiment (Happy Messages - Stampendous) in brown and then placed everything on a white 4 1/4" square card base. Popped up the flower with pop dots for some dimension. :)
Close-up ...
Happy with how this card turned out ... I need to use patterned paper more often. I have lots, but make so many of my own backgrounds, I rarely use them. :)I hope you'll check out the reminder post for The Flower Challenge #61 to see the amazing cards from our Designers. Then come play along. Challenge is open until end of day Oct. 25th. Hope to see you in the gallery.
This will be my last post for The Flower Challenge. After a year of enjoying being on the team, it is time for me to step down and concentrate on running my own two challenges. Thank you to Aileen and the team for making my time at The Flower Challenge so enjoyable. A special shout-out to Viv, who works tirelessly to keep the team happy and well-informed as well as keeping the challenge running smoothly. Such a gorgeous freebie it is, Loll! A beautiful shape for your Peonies to be planted, too!
You've given our players so much to be inspired by this year, Loll - you'll be missed!

Happy Birthday to the flower challenge. Your background paper is just perfect behind your wonderful peonies. I love patterned paper but also rarely use it. Congrats on your year with Te Flower Challenge design team. I have enjoyed seeing your cards xx
It's a perfect back ground for your pretty flowers and the stenciling brings it altogether... Beautiful card!
Beautiful!
Spectacular use of that background enhancing it with stenciling. Your painting as always is gorgeous and I love the way you toned down the bright pink with brown. This card is so striking! Just Beautiful!
Love the vintage look. So soft and subtle.
Vintage, soft, beautiful and a FREEBIE! What a way to end your year of guesting, Loll, this one is in my Winner's Circle!
Wowie, a gorgeous card with your freebie background and Perfect Peonies which you have watercolored so beautifully. Even though I have a lot of backgrounds in my bag 'o backgrounds I still use my patterned paper. You had a good year on the Flower Challenge, Loll. I sure understand how you need to step back now and then.
Love that freebie dp you got, Loll! Such a soft vintage look. Whenever I see something die cut with the postage stamp dies, I really want to get some - they are very appealing to me. Fabulous and beautifully coloured spray of flowers on the top!
Beautiful paper and the perfect flowers to pair with it, Lolly! Love the pink and brown tones and the fun shape! That sweet butterfly looks so perfect with these flowers!
This is so beautiful and feminine, Loll! I love this card! The pink and brown color combo is so pretty for the peonies. Adding a light coating of pink makes the flower blend into the background. The stenciling in the corners of the postage-shaped patterned paper is perfect for the wonderful vintage-look. Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous and inspiring cards for the past year at the Flower Challenge!
Hideko xx

A truly masterful use of this paper, Loll. These flowers wonderfully enliven the background and give the card a light and feminine character.

This is so pretty, that background paper is gorgeous! I love the vintage feel to it too xx
Look at you doing a little mixed media. This is so lovely, Loll, and we all need to use our patterned paper more. I'm so sorry to see you leave the team.
This is absolutely gorgeous. Your background paper is stunning, and beautiful image is coloured perfectly to match .. great tip to mix your pink and brown I must try that as I have only limited DI’s (yet!) Also love the postage stamp die .. that really helps pull together the whole vintage feel. I looked for that gorgeous image but it look as if it is no longer on the site - sigh!
