For my launch card on the 1st, I used a technique to create this look using black card stock, gold heat embossing, and Finetec Metallic Pearl paints.
This time I'm using a different technique (one of the original ways to create Faux Cloisonne), which uses magazines, catalogues or any other printed medium on glossy paper. The important part of the technique is to create a shiny, metallic, glossy look using glossy images with lots of metallic heat embossing. Stamps with intricate designs work best with magazine images.
The card above uses a couple of pages from an old calendar that I was going to recycle from last year. The lower leaf is stamped and heat embossed over a sunset with a small bit of yellow and orange from the sun, but mostly a deep blue sky. The top leaf is stamped over an Autumn tree where the leaves are turning colour ... mostly yellow with a little orange. You would never have guessed what the original photos are when you look at the leaves. :)

These leaves are beautiful and the calendar photos have worked brilliantly as the base for your wonderful gold embossing Loll, and the brilliant blue complements them so well. x
ReplyDeleteI have that lace leaf stamp set and really haven't used it much as I struggle to come up with a design for it, but you have made it look fabulous and I see you have used the sentiment from the same set too. I have used that quite a lot, I love it simplicity. Your leaves look fabulous with that stencilled background, love how you have faded it out and used that bold blue xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous leaves - the faux cloisonne is perfect! And I love the vibrant blue background behind them.

ReplyDeleteLove the effect you've got here Loll, you certainly couldn't tell what magazine page was underneath. Just battening down the hatches for a double whammy of Storms Dudley and Eunice, sounds like an old married couple! :)
ReplyDeleteYour card is so beautiful Loll, Love the dark blue sponging, with your two very detailed leaves, its amazing how two different printed pictures look with this technique.
ReplyDeleteWow, using two parts of the same page is brilliant. The leaves are spectacular and the shine is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love this technique and wish I'd brought my embossing equipment with me so I could enter the challenge. Your leaves are beautiful, Loll, and I will definitely give this a try when I get home.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! All that shiny gold is incredible. You chose the perfect glossy pages for these intricate leaves. Now if only I can find some glossy pages to try this technique. 🤔
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've picked two perfect pages to emboss on for your cloisonne. The deep blue and hint of orangey-yellow with embossed gold is gorgeous and it simply glows on the turning leaves. Repeating the blue with a stencil makes the layered leaves really enhances the layered leaves.
ReplyDeleteAmazing Loll, love the effect from from the magazine it does look like the turning colours in a fall leaf ♥
ReplyDeleteWonderful leaves Loll - we don't waste a thing, do we! Love how these are so detailed that the original art only shows as colours, and the blue stencilling behind is the perfect foil.
ReplyDeleteStay safe
Blessings
