June CAS Christmas Reminder - Wreath

Hi everyone.  Today is the reminder for June's CAS Christmas Challenge - Wreath, hosted by Linda (Lin's Crafty Corner).

I used a piece of white card in my leftover to create a panel with the Christmas Wreaths stencil (STAMPlorations), sponging with two shades of green.  I thought about masking all those little berries, but in the end, it was just too much time, so I used Autumn Red Crystal drops (Nuvo) to add overtop to create my red berries.  Way quicker and worked great! :)  I finished by adding the panel to a bright green mini slimline card base.  Personally, I find the slimline size cards pretty big ... but have found the mini slimline to be a bit too small for me as well.  I definitely like my A2 cards the best. :)  I added a white heat embossed sentiment (Deco Christmas (retired) - Tim Holtz).

I hope you'll check out the challenge blog to see the other beautiful reminder cards from our Designers.  If you haven't played along yet, there's still a week left to go before it closes.  Hope to see you in the gallery!

  3. You know I will always love anything green and this is no exception. what a beautiful wreath and a wonderful colour. don't blame you for not masking those berries, far too fiddly xx

  4. What a great idea to ink it all and use drops to cover the berries, Loll. I have a stencil that I could use that technique on. The green panel is so bright and matches the wreath leaves perfectly.

  5. Well, I do agree about the slimline cards, but I do like the mini slimline...not everything works for it though, but the size is pretty good for me! I love your card, Loll! That green is so very striking against the white with the wreath on it! Heart Hugs, Col

  9. I am an A2 size girl but have fallen in love with the slimline (surprised me!☺) and love that they fit standard business size envelopes! Absolutely love your designs, Loll! TFS!

  11. Great inspiration Loll, love the trick with the Nuvo drops. I'm with you over slimline cards but this design works well. :)

  12. This mini slimline card is so pretty Loll, love the wreath and a great tip about the berries! The sentiment is a pair of fonts, I just love it as it looks vintage to me. Yes, I agree, regular slimline cards are too big and a mini slimline are on the small size, but between the two, I like the mini best. Still my go to card base is definitely the A2 size! 14. A bright and lovely wreath mini slimline card, Loll! The shade of green is so good and unique, so I looked at your supply list. It was Gumball Green! That is my first Christmas green cardstock I bought from Stampin' Up! At that time I was not a big fan of the color because I wanted a standard green cardstock (like garden green) maybe because I was a total beginner. Now after some years, I truly appreciate this shade of green.
Using the crystal drops instead of masking small areas is a great idea, AND the shine is so pretty! I completely agree with you on the card sizes. :-)

  15. This wreath is so pretty the way you've colored it and perfect on the green background! Loving that sentiment too! You may want to look into Monarch size cards. They are in between the mini slimline and the larger ones. There are envelopes available in that size too.

  17. I'm not a fan of the large slimline cards either Loll, but have to admit that I am a BIG fan of the mini slimline since I discovered Gina K's Master Layouts #7 dies...they make it so much easier and I just love the finished look of the mini slimline! Your card turned out GORGEOUS!! I love the simplicity of the stenciled wreath on the white against that bright green card base, and your sentiment is one of my favorites that you use!! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)

  18. Loll, love your lovely, stenciled wreath in that bright green. I have not joined in on the slim lines yet and probably won't. I like the A2's just fine.

  19. Wonderful card. Beautiful stencilling. Using the Nuvo red drops for the berries was a brilliant idea. That sentiment is so cool.
I agree the slimline size is too big, but I don’t mind the mini. A2 is more economical anyway. 😉

  22. This is a fascinating color combination! I love how you repeated the green color in the wreath and in the card panel. It's a brilliant idea. I love the shaded leaves of your wreath and the red berries. You can't see it in the photo, but I'm evident that the berries shine beautifully.
