Penny Black - Blooming

Hi everyone.  I'm back with another of the new release from Penny Black.  This image is called Blooming (40-850) and I love the large size, this time having it go off the edge.  The lovely shape of the flowers could be several different kinds of flowers.  Today I made them into Himalayan Blue Poppies, watercoloured with Distress Inks:  Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn.  I added some Black Soot ink to the centers and sponged more of the mowed lawn in opposite corners.

The sentiment is from another new release, So Thankful (30-914), and it finishes my simple watercoloured card.

Close-up ...
I started my card using the colours from the latest challenge at Color Hues (#43).  Love this combination!

Thank you for stopping by!

  1. This is absolutely gorgeous Loll, and the two colours used for these fabulous flowers are so bright and pretty and with really seamless beautifully blended watercolouring, and love the the green ink used in opposite corners of the background and blended out towards the centre. x

  2. Beautifully painted but the words "simple" and " Water color" don't go together in my world (grin). I'm particularly fond of the way you sponged your background which perfectly highlight your artwork. Gorgeous card, Loll!

  13. I love Himalayan blue poppies - I've tried to grow them a few times but never succeeded so now I just go to Van Dusen to see them there. You've captured their glorious blue! Love the green sponging to set them off.

  18. Wow! How amazing the combination of these colors looks! The flowers even pop up and contrast wonderfully with the background. I also love how you pulled the color in the background that you left a white stripe. This adds variety to the card and makes it a real eye-catcher. This PB stamp is amazing.
