Before I created the bird on the branch, I worked on the background. This is a stencil monoprint of the Penny Black Promenade stencil (25-001), which I've had for ages. :) For the stencil monoprint, I randomly pressed two colours of distress inks (Peeled Paint, Chipped Sapphire) onto the stencil; spritzed with water and then flipped the wet side of the inky stencil onto a piece of mixed media paper. I blotted with paper towel (which keeps the cutout of the stencil design clean white), leaving the background with lots of colour. This is my favourite stencil technique. :)
Blotting all the excess ink and water created a soft, dreamy looking leavy background for my lovely bird on a branch die, which I sponged with more Chipped Sapphire distress ink on the bird's body, along with two shades of brown ink for the branch. I die-cut a second bird, using just the wing to glue on top of my bird to add dimension.

Beautiful die cut bird and branch over your lightly monoprint stenciled background. Love the font on your sweet sentiment too. TFS my friend. So fun having new beautiful craft toys:-) Love and Hugs..Nancy
What a beautiful bird! And I love the way you've coloured him (of course I do since he's blue and white!). Great background too!
Beautiful card, Loll. xx
This is a great result using that stencil technique for your background, Lolly! I love the soft and dreamy effect balanced by the brilliant sapphire of the pretty bird on a branch! Love, Dolly
What a gorgeous, dreamy card Loll - love the almost ethereal background that technique gives
Blessings

This is SOOOO pretty Loll! I love, LOVE your background, and it's one of my favorite ways to use a stencil for a soft and muted background too!! And your bird with just the blue along the top is so striking against the soft background...absolutely GORGEOUS card my friend!! Hugs. :0)
Soft, subtle background and a beautiful bird.
Wonderful soft background that looks fabulous behind your amazing blue bird xx
This is such a majestic bird, Lolly! Love the soft, dreamy background for him to perch on!
So beautiful, Loll! This is a very fun background technique which I learned from you... once you start it's hard to stop. This one is truly dreamy and perfect for your pretty bird.
I don't think I've done that stencil technique since it was a CAS challenge, Loll. After seeing this, I have to try it again because I love the soft background it leaves.
Beautiful bird! Love the colour! 💙💙💙 Fabulous monoprint background to feature it.
The colouring is magnifice3nt on this card from the beautiful bird to the stenciled background, this really is frameworthy.
