Hi everyone. Today is another new stamp from the latest Penny Black release, called Gladness (40-854). I created this card for a very special friend's birthday, which was three days ago. I hope she's received my card in time. :)
I stamped the bouquet of flowers onto mixed media paper in Gray Granite dye ink (SU!) and heat embossed with clear. I stamped a second time onto a scrap piece of mixed media paper, making sure all the flowers fit, but didn't worry about the stems.
I watercoloured all the flowers with distress inks: Abandoned Coral, Candied Apple, Mowed Lawn. I fussy cut the blooms from the flowers stamped on the scrap piece and set aside.
To add a focus on the middle part of the bouquet, using a circle die as my template and a pencil, I drew a circle over top, having the circle go off the page slightly. I used a piercing tool to poke holes around the circle at about 1/8" intervals. I erased the pencil circle.
I stamped the sentiment Not Older, Better (30-896) in the upper left corner in the same Gray Granite as the flowers, heat embossing with clear. I attached the card front to my card base and then added the fussy-cut blooms over top of my card front, adding some pop dots for added dimension.
Close-up ...
I'm sending this card to the Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Anything Goes with Optional Spots and/or Stripes. I've added paper piercing to create a dotty (or spotty) background for my flowers. :) This is my second entry.
And I'm sending this card to The Flower Challenge #70 - CAS. I created a CAS design using some stamping, watercolouring and a little piercing. :)
Thanks for coming by for a visit!

Love your beautiful creative flowers CAS card, Lolly. How clever of you to add the off the edge traced circle and then add the piercing with your pierce tool. Love how it takes your eye right to the beautiful colored and die cut flowers:-) I will have to remember your new little technique. The new PB stamps and dies are wonderful. TFS my friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy
Whoops...I see now that you did not die cut the flowers, but fussy cut perfectly..the flowers. You are so talented, mf. Have a beautiful day. Hugs...again..Nancy
Stunning card Loll, the flowers are just beautiful. xx
This is SO pretty Loll!! Your fussy cutting skills are amazing, and your circle of dots has me blown away...I thought for sure you used a die and was curious who made it! Haha!! You fooled me!! Awesome job though...really does look like a die cut! And of course your water coloring is beautiful as always! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)
BEAUTIFUL flowers, Lolly! I love how you've colored them and the creative background! I'm sure your friend was thrilled with this card and it added joy to her day!

gorgeous flowers Loll, love the soft pinks and your pierced circle frame looks wonderful ♥
Love the way you did the pierced oval around the flowers - it really highlights them. Beautiful watercolouring of the flowers.
Oh those flowers are beautiful and I love the colours.. Your fussy cutting is terrific Loll!
Such a beautiful card Loll - loving the dimension in the flowers, and how you used only the blooms to layer with. The background pierced circle is the perfect accent and I love how you made it.
Blessings

Love those blooms, they remind me of some plants I bought yesterday at a plant fair whose name escaped me now! I thought you'd used a die to cut those perfectly placed holes, great job. :)
They make dies for that you know, Loll. lol But you did a perfect job of making the dots with your piercing tool. I love all the dimension with the second layer of popped up flowers.
Lovely birthday card for your friend, Loll! The flowers are colored so beautifully and fussy-cut well. I love the dimension of the flowers! You did a great job of making the dotted-circle behind the flowers. I thought you used a dotted-circle die!!
