Today I'm sharing a card I made for two challenges. I actually made multiples to build my stash of Christmas cards. I still need to make about 30 before it's time to get them into the mail. :)
This uses a stencil that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo using a Silhouette America cut file. I used some of my Pearl-X powders which I mixed with Gum Arabic and a little bit of water and then dabbed the colours over the stencil using a sponge dauber. I have a lot of the mica powders (both Pearl-X and Arteza powders ... gift from a very generous friend) that don't have a binder, which means I need to add them to something to get them to stick to the paper and not rub off. Gum Arabic works great.
Once I finished stenciling, I used a Pilot silver fine tip metallic pen to outline the snowflake. I then splattered diluted white gouache paint over top. The sentiment is from the Christmas Sentiments set (Penny Black), stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.
Close-up ...
These magical powders add so much shimmer and shine, which you can really see in the photo above. :)
I'm sending this card over to two challenges (both from Diane and Darlene)!:
First, Peace on Earth - Challenge #25, where I was inspired by the amazing mood board ... you can see which image inspired my cards. :)
Second, the brand new Stencil Fun Challenge! Happy to be playing along for the first challenge! I didn't use the optional twist this month.
Thanks for stopping by!

Absolutely gorgeous! Love the beautiful shades of blue and mauve against the black, and the silver pen sets them off perfectly.
Forgot to say thanks so much for joining us at Peace on Earth!
Wow Loll - that snowflake looks amazing - love all the shimmer!!
Wowie, you made multiples of this gorgeous thing? I'm amazed. It's a work of art! I have many more cards yet to make as well.
What a wonderful snowflake and stunning colours on it Loll - they look amazing against the black cardstock
Blessings

Gorgeous stenciled snowflake using Pearl X and Gum Arabic for a binder, which I have..hmmm!! You always are inspiring me, Lolly:-) I can just imagine all the beautiful shine. I have been working the last 2 days on Holiday Paper Goods that Shery (STAMPlorations) sent me to make up samples for her new Bundles, which is not on her site yet. I made 5 cards yesterday and 7 cards today for Fall Occasions...so much fun:-) Tomorrow I will start on the Christmas Holiday cards, etc. What fun projects:-) So fun building our Holiday Stashes:-) Love and Hugs, dear sweet friend....Nancy
What a fantastic card and wonderful technique! I love the effect of your powders as well as the outline in silver pen. That pen is next on my wish list. Great card Loll, and it looks super on black!
This shimmery snowflake is so pretty on the black background, Lolly! What a stunning Christmas card!

What fabulous sparkle and shine from the Pearl X Loll and such a pretty look on the black card with a bit of spattering too. I only have a couple of mica powders, and I have mixed them with water which seems to set them or I think I am right in saying that Versamark Ink will keep them in place too, but I must admit I haven't used them for a very long time and haven't tried the gum arabic, but you have inspired me to give them a try again as the finished look is so beautiful. x
Your snowflake glows, Loll. So beautiful!
Oh my, the shine. It's so easy to make multiples when you are making one and this is a beautiful card to duplicate.
love the sparkle of the blue Pearl X powders, great idea sponging through the stencil xx
What beautiful shine, sparkle, and colors, Loll! The purplish blue snowflake outlined with silver is stunning! I bought a set of Pearl-X bottles a few years ago, but haven't used them yet... I need to get Gum Arabic!
Hideko xx
Your snowflake is beautiful, so shimmery. Love the added splatters too.
Love and hugs xx
Stunning and dramatic! I haven't used my silhouette for ages - must do something about that!
I seem to be a bit behind with things these days, not sure why! I bet the shine on this is wonderful in real life and I love how you have given your snowflakes definition by outlining them. Perfect splatters too xx
What a great snowflake stencil used here Loll - so pretty in the blue on black and white splatter! xx
Another card painted with metallic watercolors and another delight. These colors are beautiful. Beautifully designed c
xxard, Loll.
I also use gum arabic to create gold paint. Thanks for sharing your wisdom that it works with mika too :-)
