Hi everyone. Another month has flown by as I continue to recover from surgery. I'm getting stronger every day. :) Today I'm sharing cards I made for the Group of Seven Cardmaker's blog using Alcohol Inks on Gelli Plate.
Please check out the details for how-to of this technique on the blog ...
Christine made several cards using the technique that she posted HERE. We were all so thrilled with her cards, we asked her to lead the group for a Zoom call in late April. Thanks Christine!
To be honest, I haven't had the best luck using my Gelli Plate that I've had for several years. But after seeing Christine demo using mini gelli plates, I had lots of fun using my newly purchased minis and ended up with several cards that I'm happy with - yay! :)
Following Christine's instructions, I used three colours of alcohol inks, along with blending solution on my 3" circle gelli plate. I used an air blower tool to move the inks around. I didn't want perfect circles, so left some edges without ink. I placed a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock over top and pulled my print.
For the card above, I used three alcohol ink colours and then stenciled over top with a honeycomb stencil from Magenta. I stamped a wildflower from the Meadow stamp set (Inkadinkado). The sentiment is from Simple Sentiments (Lawn Fawn). I used the sentiment stamp set for all three cards. :)
Close-up ...
I'm sending the above card over to April Stencil Fun Challenge. Happy to be playing along again this month!
And I'm sending the above card to NBUS Challenge #49. This is the first time I've used the honeycomb stencil. :)
... and I made a few more ...
Details of what inks and stamps I used on the above cards are listed below my signature.
I suggest that you use gloves any time you are using alcohol inks as they stain anything they come in contact with. As well, best to make sure your room is well ventilated ... I always have my window wide open. :)
We have a link set up on today's post at Group of Seven if you'd like to try this technique and want to share your makes.

These are all absolutely BEAUTIFUL Loll! I love all your color combinations and the stamps you used to complete each card...they are truly mini works of art! I only have the medium rectangle size gelli plate (5 x 7?) so not sure if it would work and I've never had much success with it before, but I think I might just have to try with this one! Lovely, lovely cards my friend and so glad to hear you're feeling stonger each day!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteWell, I'd say you figured it out with your new smaller gel plates Loll - these three cards are beautiful! I have had trouble using the gel plates with acrylic paints and I am much happier with the Alcohol Inks. Your backgrounds are so bright and vibrant with the mix of colors you used - and the black stenciling and stampings really set them off well! So glad Christine had this technique for us to play with this month! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteOnce you have the ingredients out you might as well make mutiples, Loll, and yours are all beautiful. I love the irregular edges and the way the silhouettes pop off the inky circles.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I found a gelli plate technique that you like, this one is perfect for CAS cards. I love your colour combos with the vibrant colours. Careful this technique is a little addictive :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful collection of cards, Loll. My Gelli Plate hasn't been used for a long time. Thanks for the inspiration to get it out and perhaps try it with alcohol inks. Glad your recovery is going well. xx
ReplyDeleteWow...3 Gorgeous gelli plate alcohol ink circle cards, Lolly. I got the circle plate about a year ago after being inspired by cards designed by Christine. All the GO7 girls samples are so inspiring and gorgeous. I will definitely be playing along:-) Love and Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you continue to improve Loll. Your cards are stunning.

These are all lovely and so vibrant. I love the colors your chose to use and the stamping looks great.
ReplyDeleteThose are fabulous cards, Loll. SO glad you are getting stronger in your recovery.
ReplyDeleteWow, Loll, your cards are so cool! I saw Julia's post on SCS and that led me to the blog post! I love the great BG's you guys have made using this technique! All of your cards are fabulous! I'm definitely inspired to try something like this! Thanks and it's so wonderful to see you making cards again! Sue
ReplyDeleteThese are stunning!
ReplyDeleteWhat glorious colors in you background, Loll! I haven’t tried alcohol ink on a gelli plate but after seeing these it’s on my to do list! All three are just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThree CAS cards that pack a punch! Great job with the backgrounds, Loll. So happy to hear you're getting stronger every day!
ReplyDeleteYour results are colorful and CASlicious, Lolly! I love the silhouettes you chose, especially the pussy willow. I'm so glad your recovery is progressing as it should and you are feeling up to making lovely cards again! And thank you for adding one of them to the NBUS gallery! Love, Dolly
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! These prints are so pretty, and really unique. I love the fact that you left the circles only partially covered, but also that you're using regular cardstock.
ReplyDeleteThese are just beautiful - wonderful colour combinations, great stencilling and stamping on top of the prints! So glad you enjoyed this gelli technique!
ReplyDeletewhat great news to hear you are well on the road to a full recovery Loll. These are amazing cards - I do love the way you have used the mini gelli plate - I had not seen them that small, or shaped.
ReplyDeleteThe silhouette stamps are perfect over your backgrounds
Blessings
Maxine

These cards are stunning. I have never used a gel plate. But seeing these, makes me want to try it. So good to hear that you are making a good recovery.
ReplyDeleteAnother brilliant technique and again one that I haven't tried..I have used a gelli plate but not with AI's, and your three cards are all so beautiful Loll and love the added silhouette flowers on each, and also that stencilling too on the first really adds to the finished look. x
ReplyDeleteA wonderful mix of colors, Lolly, and your stamping looks awesome on these prints! Your simple sentiments complete the look perfectly! It was so good to see you again! Keep getting better and better, my dear friend.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can get prettier color combos than each of these. I couldn't begin to pick a favorite. Exquisite with the silhouette stamps. I'm so glad to hear you're continuing to get stronger. It's a long road.
ReplyDeleteAwesome cards Loll, love the variety of colours with the silhouette stamps. I have a neglected gelli plate too, in fact I just bought another one as I didn't want to contaminate my other one with AI lol! I wonder if a mask would work to limit the size. I bought a 6 inch square. Looks like a fun technique, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun technique Loll, you've inspired me to go check out the mini plates and have a go myself! Glad to hear you're continuing to recover from your op, you've created some lovely effects.:)
ReplyDeleteWow! I think these cards are simply fantastic. I love the patterns you get with the inks and gel plate. So pretty. Must try this technique.
ReplyDeleteFabulousness here Loll. Love the bright bold colours.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great technique. I have never used alcohol inks on my gelli plates before and now I am going to have to change that. Thanks for the inspiration with these wonderful cards. I am so glad that you continue to improve too xx
ReplyDeleteI can see that this technique draws you in and you can't stop at just one background. Your circles look really beautiful and I think the fact that they are not completely filled makes them even more interesting. Perfect for silhouettes of flowers.

WOW! These look amazing. The colours are so vibrant, and I love the black stamping.
ReplyDeleteI'm still not very confident using my gelli plates but, you've inspired me to give them another go.
Glad to hear your recovery is going well xx
Stunning CAS cards, Loll! You've got wonderful results with this technique! Love all three color combos and the awesome black silhouette images! My new mini gelli plates are arriving on Sunday, so I can't wait to try this technique! Thanks for your inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear you're getting stronger every day. I hope for your continued recovery!
