Guesting at Seize the Birthday!

Hi everyone.  I'm back with my second card this month as Surprise Party Guest at Seize the Birthday Challenge #274 - Fall Items (Food, Flowers, Leaves).

Fall is my favourite time of year.  I just LOVE the colours of the fall flowers and the changing leaves.  Today I've used Beautiful Bouquet Dahlia from WPlus9 (retired).  My great uncle used to have a field of dahlias on his property.  They were so beautiful and I have loved that flower since I was a little girl. :)

I stamped the image in black and heat embossed in clear over a stencil monoprint background using the Mini Tiny Circles stencil from The Crafter's Workshop.  The background is done with Peeled Paint distress ink and I've used more distress inks to watercolour the bouquet (Seedless Preserves, Forest Moss, Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon).

The card front is cut with a circle aperture for the bouquet to peek through.  This creates a CAS mixed media design, which is finished with a simple sentiment (Endless Birthday Wishes by Stampin' Up! - retired).

I'm sending the above card to Stencil Fun November Challenge (3rd entry!).

  1. Amazing and gorgeous, your bouquet over the monoprint is a great idea and it all is just perfect. It's so easy to see why dahlias were a favorite, especially when they're as gorgeous as this!

  2. I love dahlias too and have some growing in my garden. They are currently waiting to be taken out of the pots and put away somewhere dry for the winter. I didn't get a chance to do that last year and most of them rotted. the purple dahlias on your card are stunning. I love it xx

  3. Such a pretty card Loll, I love dahlias too, there are still a few flowers on one particular plant in the garden at the moment! Fall has come late this year. The leaves turned colour in a big way last week but with the frosts and winds forecast they will most likely be gone by next week. :)

Such pretty little stencilled circles in the background using a beautiful shade of green and carried through into the foliage with the strong colour of Seedless Preserves for the fabulous dahlias making a great contrast Loll, and the yellow/orange little accompanying flowers complement the rest perfectly with some awesome watercolouring throughout..a gorgeous card! x

  26. I know, I know... I'm ridiculously behind again! I'm looking at all your gorgeous cards today and wish I had more time to linger, but alas. I cannot resist commenting on this beauty. What a fabulous stamp. Love the cheerful style of it, and the sentiment font goes so perfectly with it. Most of all, your coloring brings it to life in the most beautiful way. I miss coloring. Trying to get all these Christmas cards done.
