Hi everyone. It's Monday and time for IDEAS Challenge. Today is "I - Inks/Colour Mediums".
I recently bought a Hero Arts Sand Ink Pad. I thought I would use it for no-line watercolouring as it's a very light brown and would work great for that. Little did I know that I bought one of their "Core Ink" pads, which is waterproof. Oops! So instead of a no-line watercoloured hydrangea, I have a pink hydrangea for you today that is outlined in brown. :)
In the end, I'm happy with how it turned out. I used Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry, Shabby Shutters, and Peeled Paint distress inks to watercolour. I knew from the start that I was going to create a CAS design, so it's just the flower and a simple sentiment (WPlus9 - retired), stamped in more of the Sand ink. To finish, I used my white Posca pen to add white dots to the stamens.
Close-up ...
I'm sending the above card to NBUS Challenge #61. First time using this ink! Thanks for stopping by!
Stamps: Best Thoughts (SU! - retired); Beautiful Bouquet Dahlia (WPlus 9)
Paper: White card stock (Neenah 110 lb.); Mixed Media (Strathmore 140 lb.)Ink: Sand (Hero Arts); Distress Inks: Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry, Shabby Shutters, and Peeled Paint (Tim Holtz)
Accessories: Watercolour brushes, White acrylic pen (Posca)
Sometimes a softer color outline...especially on water colors looks better than black. Sorry it was waterproof ink...but it turned out fabulously.
ReplyDeleteA very happy accident Loll, looks fab. :)
ReplyDeleteIt may not have been the ink pad you were expecting, but the end result with this card is just BEAUTIFUL Loll! Your coloring as always is spot on, and the pinks are simply gorgeous! I'm loving the white stamens too! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteI love happy accidents, and this one turned out beautifully. Your colouring is just perfect xx
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a happy accident with the ink pad, Loll. Your card is so pretty.

Beautiful hydrangea, Loll. I really like it stamped in the Sand.
ReplyDeleteIt may not have turned out exactly as you envisioned, but I think it's gorgeous, my friend!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful and that ink is perfect for the outline!
ReplyDeleteI love your coloring of the dahlia, Lolly, and I don't mind the brown ink outline at all. It looks like embossed platinum and your white pen highlights are the icing on the cake! Thanks for playing with I.D.E.A.S. and linking up to NBUS! Mwah! Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeletePretty in pink! The sand outline does not take away at all but provides a soft color to bring focus to all the other beautiful colors
ReplyDeleteYour brown ink outline is so pretty, Lolly:-) Your brown ink accident turned out beautifully, my friend. Love and Hugs...can't wait to see more of your little accidents.
ReplyDeleteLove and Big Hugs dear friend:-)
Actually I really like the "Sand" outline - it's nice and subtle but still definitely an outline. Lovely shades of pink for the flower.
ReplyDeleteWOW absolutely stunning, your card is so beautiful Loll.
ReplyDeleteThis card is just perfect! I would never have guessed that there was an error during its creation. Such mistakes are like a blessing, the end result is stunning!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
BozenA xx
What a pretty card.
ReplyDeleteLove the way this was done even though you thought the ink was a different color. Still, look how gorgeous it turned out. And of course your painting is spot on!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful soft pretty card Loll... the brown outline softens the image too... have a wonderful day hugs Robyn
ReplyDeletePure loveliness, Loll! The bloom looks so soft I feel I could use it like a powder puff. It's hard to get a purely no-line image, even with water based ink. Seems there's always a bit of border that shows up here and there. Your light-line image is simply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou may not have had the ink you thought you had ordered, but this is still gorgeous Loll. Browns always give a softer look than black for stamping images. A nice detail to use the same ink for the sentiment
ReplyDeleteBlessings
