Hi everyone. It's time for the next IDEAS Challenge with Darnell. This week is "D for Dies / Die Cuts".
I'm playing with my new Garden Trellis Cover Die (Altenew). LOVE this! Bought it the same time as the Nature's Magic bundle from Altenew, which is used again today. I saw a card done by Design Team Member Emily, and had to buy both the bundle and the trellis. :)
My son wanted to have some thank-you cards for the school admin assistants, so this is one that I made for him to give-away. For this card, I used Distress Re-inkers to colour ... first time having a bit of success using them, but have a long way to go. I love the vibrant colours, but I couldn't get the fade that I wanted. I need lots of practise. :) I used an older stamp for the sentiment, embossing in white on black card stock and then fussy-cutting it out.
Close-up ...
Sending this card to the following challenges:

ReplyDeleteWOW! Both the die for the background and these beautiful flowers make a very nice duo. I love coloring flowers, it's perfect for me!

What a beauty. Love those vibrant colors on your trellis.
ReplyDeleteLove those vibrant colours with the white on white background. I think your painting looks great. I have no doubt that the recipient will be very pleased to receive this one xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty pair of floral sprigs atop the lattice background, Loll - love it!!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully water colored flowers and love your background, Lolly:-) Your son's friend will so appreciate your card. Love and Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these bright flowers, Lolly! You got good shading and fade! Re-inkers are tricky. They are very concentrated. Jill makes it look so easy. I'm sure Jeremy was delighted to give this and his assistant was delighted to receive it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous card Loll and love the vibrant colours of the reinkers you used and I think the colour variation and blend looks great as the colours do fade towards the outside of the petals and leaves and you do have darker tones in the centres and at the base of the leaves, and the Posca Paint Pen work in the centres of the flowers looks terrific. The trellis makes a perfect background white on white too...I love it. x
ReplyDeleteFrom my view, this card is beautiful! Love your coloring, even if you didn't get the fade you were looking for.
ReplyDeletePretty colors, Lolly, and I love the vibrancy! I think you are too hard on yourself about the shading. That's a great trellis die background, too! Thank you for playing with my I.D.E.A.S. and inspiring everyone to use their NBUS! Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeleteMore beautiful summer flowers! Love the vibrant colours. And I think your colour fade is excellent - much better than mine!
ReplyDeleteI can quite see why you had to have the trellis cover plate and these fab flowers Loll, they make such a pretty card.
ReplyDeleteMy tip for watercolouring is to let the water do the fading. Add some water BEFORE the colour and let it do it's stuff. You can always darken the colour later. :)
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL Loll! I think your coloring with the re-inkers is fabulous...sometimes we're our own worst critics! I love that trellis die on your background...can totally see why you HAD to have it! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog
