Hi everyone. Today I'm sharing a card stamped with Special Blend (31-059) from Penny Black. I adore this sweet image of two little girls having a tea party! :)
I have been following along with Jill Foster's latest series of YouTube videos for Penny Black, called "Permission to Play". It's a fantastic series of videos with sketches to create beautiful cards easily. Today I am using Jill's sketch and tips from video #5. Thanks so much Jill!! :)
I stamped the image in Watering Can Archival ink onto mixed media paper. I watercoloured with Distress re-inkers (Shabby Shutters, Salvaged Patina, Picked Raspberry, Abandoned Coral, Brushed Corduroy, Gathered Twigs) and a few touches from Zigs. Once I was finished watercolouring, I added a grounding with Gathered Twigs distress re-inker and then die-cut the image using the Sewing Stackers Frame from Penny Black. I stamped the sentiment (from the same stamp set) in Watering Can ink.
Next I took a card front cut from Seaglass (Simon Says Stamp) and dry embossed with the Variegated embossing folder - Penny Black). The embossing was sponged lightly with Salvaged Patina ink to add a bit of colour variation. I attached my background to my card base and then popped up the framed image of the little girls having tea. So sweet!!
Close-up ...
Sending the above card to the Penny Black Saturday Challenge - July.
Thanks for stopping by!

This is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI've been enjoying Jill's videos too, Loll, and only wish I'd brought things with me that I could use following her designs. The image is darling and you really brought it to life with your coloring.
ReplyDeleteYay!!! Oh, Loll, this is just DARLING! BTW all three of these items are on my wish list even though I have so many PB images I love already! I know I would love to have some of their frames - your zig-zag stitched frame is perfection as is your coloring.

What an adorable little scene and you have watercolored it perfectly. Love the blue embossed background too xx
ReplyDeleteYour card is so sweet, Loll. Your watercolor painting looks fantastic, I love the bright vibrant colors. It's nice to meet friends for tea. I think this card suits most occasions.

This is such an adorable card and I LOVE your watercoloring. (sigh) If only I could get the hang of it. This card is just charming!
ReplyDeleteOh, Loll, this is DARLING! Love the sweet scene, coloring and friendship that these two are enjoying
ReplyDeleteLoll this is absolutely gorgeous - sweet, sweet image and so beautifully used and mounted on your card.

Just lovely Lolly! x
ReplyDeleteA fab card Loll. I have this sweet stamp from when Lili of the Valley released it way back when I started stamping! When I first saw these cute PB images I thought they'd been hijacked but it appears that the licence for the images had run out and the artist was allowed to sell her work on to another company. Its also good that PB have issued some extra fab sentiments with them. The EF in the background looks great too with your super watercoloured image. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, aren't they just the sweetest little pair! This is an adorable card, Loll!
ReplyDeleteCute card Loll, such an adorable image. I've just read Julie's comment, I thought I'd recognised them as different brand from quite a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteLiz xx
