Hi everyone. Here's another adorable image from Penny Black's Christmas release, Rock on. This image is so cute ... I smiled the whole time I was watercolouring him. :)
Ink: Black Pigment ink (Versafine Clair Nocturne); Distress Inks: Pine Needles, Candied Apple, Lumberjack Plaid, Brushed Corduroy, Gathered Twigs, Unchartered Mariner (Tim Holtz)
Accessories: Rock On cut out (Penny Black), Background Basics (Penny Black), white embossing powder (Ranger), heat tool, watercolour paint brushes, sponge, Red chalk, White paint pen (Posca)
Ink: Black pigment (Versafine Clair Nocturne); Distress Inks: Pine Needles, Candied Apple, Lumberjack Red, Black Soot, Mustard Seed, Lost Shadow (Tim Holtz); Zigs: Flesh
Accessories: Watercolour paint brushes, Santa's Sweets Cut Out, Tape for masking, sponge
I stamped him in black pigment ink, heat set and then watercoloured the image with distress inks. I used the matching die to cut out the image (Rock on cut out). To finish the bear, red chalk was added to his cheers with a white dot.
Next I stamped Christmas Story (Penny Black) onto a piece of white card stock and heat embossed in white. I used the circle stencil from Penny Black's Background Basics, to sponge lightly with Evergreen Bough ink. This shows off the stamped background. I used a white paint pen to add a stitching on the circle.
The image was popped over top to give it some added dimension, and a red sentiment banner with white embossed sentiment (from the same stamp set as the bear) was added.

Second card for today, this time using Penny Black's Santa's Sweets.
I stamped the image in black pigment ink, heat set with my heat gun and then watercoloured with distress inks. I used the matching die (Santa's Sweets Cut Out) to cut out the image.
I used a piece of removable tape to mask a horizon line and sponged a little Lost Shadow distress ink below the line for a shadow under the chair. I adhered the image over top and stamped a sentiment (Bright & Light in black ink to finish the card. :)

Two great Christmas cards. I can see why you smiled the whole time you were watercoloring that cute bear image. Your coloring is wonderful and I love the way you did the background with the white embossing and the stenciled circle - fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Two very fun cards! The bear is so cute, lazy in the rocking chair. Great design with the stamped background and the shaded circle.
ReplyDeleteI also love the second card, this lazy Santa after hard work totally deserves a rest.
hugs,
BożenA xx
Two darling images and adorable cards, Loll! Santa better watch that snacking - me TOO!

Both cards are fantastic. Love the sentiment on Santa and I particularly love the background on that cute teddy bear. Now that is imaginative. These are great, Loll
ReplyDeleteThis fluffy rocker makes me smile too, Lolly! He is adorable and I LOVE how you did the background! Santa looks quite happy with his sweets! Beautifully colored and another perfect sentiment!
ReplyDeleteIt would be impossible to play with these PB images and not smile! And how relaxing and fun to color them as you have done so perfectly, Lolly! Love the way you gave the sleepy bear an offset circle background and Santa has a floor for his easy chair and snacks! Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeleteYou're killing me and my pocketbook with all these PB images lately Loll...they are all so dang CUTE!!! Your little rocker totally made me smile...absolutely ADORABLE looking all tuckered out and taking a snooze in his rocker! I love your background too! And old St. Nick laying back after all that snacking had me chuckling too...colored beautifully and just too sweet! Awesome cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteEeeek! These are so darling, Loll. PB images are always sweet and fun but you've pushed them to the next level!
ReplyDeleteWho could resist this sweet teddy asleep in the rocking chair, and love the fun sentiment, and the white embossed sentiment stamp over the whole background which you have coloured in a circle around the image which really makes it pop. The second card looks great too with Santa having some sweet treats...not sure if he has fallen asleep with a cake in his hand or whether he has his eyes shut just savouring the taste...lol, and another fun sentiment to go with this one..wonderful watercolouring on both too. x
ReplyDeleteTwo adorable cards Loll, I can't decide which one I like best. The little Teddy is so sweet and Santa is so jolly ♥

ReplyDeleteGorgeous coloring on those sweet images, Loll - love both but that teddy bear makes me smile!!
ReplyDeleteThe bear is adorable, Loll, and the stenciled circle really draws your eye to him. I think Santa needs to lay off the sweets but the image and your coloring are wonderful. ;)
